Introducing the Players: Nate

Hey everyone! As promised, we're going to be giving a little insight to you into who our players are. (Who asked for this content? No one!) First up is Nate, AKA "me," I suppose. Hello?

Most of the stuff you've seen on the website has been my doing, for good or bad, so you know me a little bit already. I grew up in south-central PA (York County), went to college at Millersville, and then moved down to Charleston, South Carolina with my now-wife Nicole.

Charleston is where I discovered improv; I went to a show during the 2013 Charleston Comedy Festival and was so enamored with the art form that I signed up for classes two weeks later. I became a company member at Theatre 99 and have gotten most of my improv training through them. Check them out if you're ever down south.

Besides improv, I'm a huge Game of Thrones and Star Wars nerd. (I loved Episode VII and will defend it to the death). I play in two weekly Dungeons and Dragons games and am eminently interested in the interplay between D&D and improv, especially when it comes to worldview and characters. (Also I like rolling dice and smashing things with my friends. So, maybe not that sophisticated after all?).

To break one stereotype (nerds) and possibly reinforce another (white dudes), I'm also a big football fan, specifically the Eagles (Carson Wentz is my personal Prince Who Was Promised). My favorite band is U2 (I must've skipped a generation) and will talk U2 to you whenever you want.

I'm excited to bring improv to the people of State College. I can't tell you how important the improv community was for me in Charleston. It provided me with most of my friends from the area and countless hours of joy, whether from watching, performing, or even practicing. To me, improv means fun. If I can help create a community that lets other people have that fun too, I'll consider it a great accomplishment.

Thanks for following along so far! I'll get one of our other members to do one of these sooner or later. Until then!
