Please check back early next year for information about Summer Camp 2020!
Happy Valley Improv’s week-long summer camps will engage participants with the art of improvisational theatre. Campers will learn how to improvise, work closely with a group of their peers, and perform for an audience of friends and family.
This year, Happy Valley Improv will be offering two camps, happening concurrently. One camp is for Middle Schoolers (6th-8th grade) while the other is for High Schoolers (9th-12th grade).
The summer camps are run by Sam Tanner and Andrea McCloskey.
Sam was a high school English and drama teacher for 15 years in the Twin Cities, before accepting a faculty job with Penn State. He’s directed improvisation with teenagers for 15 years as well.
Andrea is an associate professor of education at Penn State. Both Sam and Andrea were high school teachers before becoming faculty members. They’re also improvisers who perform regularly with Happy Valley Improv, and they have a wealth of experience working with teenagers.
Both the camps and the performance will be held at the State Theatre. Camps are open to rising 6th-12th graders.
Dates for 2019 Summer Camp are June 24th-28th. Both Middle and High School camps will be held concurrently from 9:30am-12pm each day.
